Volunteer to be a Tutor

Over a third of Tulare County residents lack basic literacy skills. The Literacy Center works to reduce that number, but we need your help. Give someone else the benefit of your knowledge. Volunteer your time as an online tutor.

The Literacy Center provides free training for new tutors.

We now offer online training for new tutors. Call to sign up.

Our volunteers dedicate at least one hour each week to provide free one-on-one tutoring.

Volunteers can also help with these programs:

  • English Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) Conversation Circle

  • Every Child Ready to Read @ Your Library

  • Early Learning for Families (ELF)
