Our volunteer tutor team numbers well over 100 dedicated folks from all over Tulare County who commit at least one hour each week providing free one-on-one tutoring, or facilitating an English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Conversation Circle, or working with families in our Every Child Ready to Read @ Your Library, and Early Learning for Families (ELF) Projects addressing literacy needs of children under the age of 5.
Read To Succeed is a free literacy service to adults as well as families. Our Adult Literacy Services provide free one-on-one assistance to adults 18 years and older who wish to learn to read or improve their reading skills. If you wish to pass the GED, get a Driver’s License, study for and pass your Citizenship Test, improve your English reading and writing skills, or just learn to read better, call 713-2745 to get an appointment for assessment and free one-on-one tutoring.
The Health and Human Services (HHSA) Partnership provides one-on-one tutoring services to HHSA TulareWORKS participants. This unique program focuses on instruction in the basic functional skills needed for job readiness and social competency.
English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Conversation Circles are weekly opportunities for English learners to practice their conversational skills in a relaxed atmosphere with other learners. These hour-long circles are facilitated by a Literacy Center volunteer.
Every Child Ready to Read @ Your Library is a free training provided by volunteers of the READ TO SUCCEED Team who focus on six critical learning skills children need to learn to read and prepare for school. The training is given to parents and caregivers all over Tulare County and is free! If you have a group of parents meeting regularly who wish to host this free exciting training, call us at 713-2745 to book your time/date!
Early Learning for Families (ELF) is our exciting free book club for parents and children ages 0- 5. This once-a-month activity is held at the Literacy Center and focuses on demonstrating early literacy skills for parents to prepare their children for school and learning to read.
